Chapter One
“There is nothing wrong with just having a drink and having some fun,” Ellie Taylor said to herself after she downed a shot. She rarely, if ever, went out on a Friday night, but after losing three jobs within one week, she deserved it. There was nothing wrong with her work ethic, nothing at all. Nope, all that was wrong was people were cutting back on cleaners, dog walkers, and house sitters. She’d done all three and had made a pretty good living, but now she had to look for work elsewhere.
At least she was still a waitress. Working from job to job had become her life.
Tapping the shot glass, she nodded at the bartender who immediately came and filled up her glass.
Her friends were already out on the dance floor, partying and getting rubbed up by some guys. That wasn’t her scene. She loved a good dance so long as it was far away from any prying eyes and in the middle of her small apartment.
“We didn’t bring you here to drown your sorrows,” Casey, her friend, said. She was a party animal but could also afford it. They had met a couple of years ago when Ellie had taken the job as a dog walker for her parents. Beautiful, blonde, and lovely, Casey loved to socialize and for anything to celebrate, she was always there, but only because she wanted to get her wealthy parents’ attention and often made headline news with some of her antics.
“I’m not drowning my sorrows. I’m loosening up.”
“Then loosen up by coming and dancing with me.” Casey didn’t give her a moment to refuse. Within seconds, she was pulled out of her chair and onto the dance floor.
Casey’s other friends were already at the stage of kissing the guys they were with. Ellie didn’t know them very well. They were kind of prissy around her. Even after three years, they still referred to her as the help. She’d heard them in the bathroom. Casey wasn’t like that though. Even though they were worlds apart, Casey wouldn’t see their friendship die, and Ellie loved her so much because of it.
“Let’s drive men crazy,” Casey said, wrapping her arms around her.
“Seriously, you drive men crazy with all that hair.”
Casey giggled. “We need to get you a man. You know, someone who can look after you.”
Ellie groaned. “I don’t need a man to take care of me. I can do that all on my own.”
“Well, I think it’s time you found someone nice and loving, who will take care of you. Love you for you.”
“We’re not going to find true love in a bar, trust me.”
“You never know. I’m open to us finding it anywhere.”
She laughed as Casey wrapped her arms around her neck.
“I’m not here to come looking for a man anyway. I’m just here to try and find some peace and quiet.”
“I hate to break it to you, but you don’t find anything like that in a bar either. What you find are willing men and women who would do anything to fuck each other.”
“Look at you using the dirty words.”
“Honey, you haven’t even seen anything yet. Speaking of, a guy’s been watching you ever since you sat at the bar.”
This made her pause. “He has?”
“Yes. He’s a hottie too.”
She wanted to look around to see who this hottie was but she couldn’t do it. The guy would then know what she was doing. Nibbling on her lip, she looked at Casey. “A good hottie or a bad one?”
“Definitely a bad hottie. He’s going to be the kind that obliterates your pussy for any other man. He’s a bad boy, I can tell. Dangerous.”
She rolled her eyes. “Now I know you’re exaggerating.” She let Casey go as she saw another man who wanted in on the action. “Good luck.”
She knew how this worked, pulling away from her friend. Casey tried to play hard to get but then immediately fell for the guy when he came forward at the right moment.
Leaving her friend to her newfound beau, she walked back to the bar. Her spot hadn’t been taken.
“Hit me,” she said, looking at the bartender, and then groaned. “I don’t get out much.”
“I can tell.” He poured her some more alcohol. “Are you having a good time?”
“Yeah.”
“If you’re looking for action, you’ve come to the right place. Giavanni’s can find you anything.”
“Thanks. I’m not really looking for anything. I’m just wanting a bit of fun.”
“Maybe you should’ve gone elsewhere. Your friends look like they belong. You don’t.”
“Wow, talk about blunt.”
“I don’t mean because of your friends showing more skin or anything.” The bartender blushed. “What I mean is you look like a nice girl, and the people who come here aren’t. They know what they want and it’s not to sit at a bar, down shots, and look sad. It’s about finding someone.”
She tilted her head to the side to look at him.
“You’re a beautiful woman and I can tell you’re not part of this crowd.”
Her clothes were all from a thrift shop. Jeans and a tight shirt with a plunging neckline that showed a lot, and she really meant a lot, of cleavage.
“This place is bad for a woman like you.”
“How about you start serving drinks and you stop telling women what they should do?”
The harsh, commanding voice made her freeze to the spot. The man who’d spoken stood really close behind her. The temptation to turn around and to see him was strong, but she didn’t do it. Instead, she lifted her glass to her lips.
“I’m sorry, sir.” The bartender stepped away as the large man came close to her—and she knew he was massive just from how close he stood.
“Your job is to serve, not to harass the customers.”
“Sorry about that,” the bartender said.
She turned her head and got a good look at the man who’d sent her company away. Tall, strong, and muscular. Even in the suit, she could tell he was thick with muscles. The cuff of his suit jacket was rolled up and she caught sight of some ink around his wrists. Short black hair, blue eyes, and at his neckline, more ink was visible. The lighting was low so she couldn’t quite see anything else.
“It’s fine. I don’t mind. He was keeping me company and telling me the truth.”
“Men don’t tell the truth.”
“Oh, I know, believe me. You don’t need to warn me against men.” She finished off the shot and felt a nice little buzz.
“You’re here because of a bad breakup?”
She burst out laughing. “Hell, no. I’m in the clear of all men and have been for a couple of years now.” She inwardly cringed at her own admission. Great, just go tell a sexy stranger I haven’t had sex in years. “This is losing not one, not two, but three jobs. Oh, yeah, this is me having some fun with losing jobs.” She no longer had any more liquor and put the glass down, spinning in her seat to look out at the dance floor.
“I saw you dancing with her.”
“Yeah, she’s a friend. We’re close.”
“Are you together?”

No. We’re friends. She likes to play hard to get for the guy so he’ll make the first move. She’s done it a couple of times.”
“What’s your name?” he asked.
She turned to look at him and shook her head.
“You’re not going to tell me?” he asked.
“I don’t need to tell you.” She stretched her neck from side to side, feeling the tension leaving her body.
“True.”
The tone of his voice drew her attention and she laughed. “You’re not used to getting what you want, are you?”
“What makes you say that?”
“I can get a good read on people, believe me. I know you think I’m an easy target. Sad little chubby girl, alone at the bar. She’s not even dancing with her friends. You saw me as easy.”
He didn’t say anything for a couple of minutes.
“I can have every single woman in this room, your friend included, on their knees worshipping my cock with a simple snap of my fingers. I don’t prey on vulnerable women.” His voice was dark as he’d dropped it a couple of octaves, so it was just the two of them.
She didn’t know how he did it, but he made her believe they were the only two people in the room. Licking her dry lips, she stared at him.
“I came to the bar because you stand out. You’re not here for a quick, easy fuck. You’re a beautiful woman who I want in my bed. I watched you because I want to know if your pussy is as sweet as your face.”
“You were watching me?”
“From the moment you walked through the door. I knew you were going to be mine.”
****
Antonio Rosso watched the young woman as her cheeks bloomed. She didn’t need to tell him her name; he’d find it out eventually. No one in this town would ever be a stranger for long. She sat in Giavanni’s, all innocence and sweetness. Her friend was a regular. Casey was a little troublemaker and he was surprised she had a friend he or the crew didn’t know about.
Giavanni’s always made sure they knew the wealthy patrons who used their clubs or establishments. He was one of their most trusted soldiers, an enforcer. He wasn’t a capo or an underboss. No, he was the person they called when they wanted to hurt people. His specialty was tracking people down, killing them, and making sure they hurt every single second they were in his company. He’d worked his way up the Family from soldier to guard, to where he was today. Needed, respected, and even feared. This was who he was.
Romeo Giavanni was The Boss. The man in charge who gave the orders everyone must follow. They ruled the city. No one could touch them. He also happened to be friends with Romeo’s son, Raphael. In their world, friendships were rare. Loyalties were always tested, but he and Raphael were tight. They’d fought together side by side for years.
In fact, his friend was currently getting his dick sucked by one of the waitresses who thought her meal ticket was screwing the owner’s son.
Raphael didn’t need him and this beauty had caught his attention.
“You’re way too sure of yourself, aren’t you? You just tell a girl like it is and she does as she’s told.”
“Usually.” He realized pretty quickly that this woman didn’t have a clue who he was, or whose club she was in.
“I’m not like that. Your dirty words are a nice, refreshing change though.”
Before he could say anything else, Casey came over with her new boyfriend of the night. “I’m heading out. Are you okay?” she asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
“I can stay if you want.”
His woman shook her head. “No, it’s fine. Go. Have some fun. I’ll be leaving soon.”
Casey moved in for a hug. “Don’t think too hard. He looks like he’s up for a good time. Get off your stubborn ass and have some fun yourself.”
He heard what Casey said even if she had tried to say it low.
Smirking into his drink, he nodded at the bartender to fill his glass. The confidence the man had shown moments ago was gone. He poured with a shaking hand.
The last bartender had tried to kill Raphael with poison. Antonio had ended him. Covered the club with blood, and it had taken several days for their crew to clean up the mess. Of course, the story had made the rounds among their crowd.
“Nice friend,” he said as his prey was once again alone. He loved her fucking curves. Even though she was dressed in a lot more clothes than the other customers, they didn’t hide her body one bit.
Big tits, the kind he wanted to see swaying in front of him or slapping against her body with the pounds of his cock. Full hips, enough for him to hold on to as he fucked her. A round, shapely ass that he wanted to fuck just as well.
In fact, there were a lot of dirty things he wanted to do to this woman.
“Do you always do the right thing?” he asked.
“Excuse me?”
“Hang out with your friend. Keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid. Go home to your lonely place. No man. You’re a babysitter while your friend is living it up.”
“Wow, talk about overstepping proper, polite conversation.”
“I don’t follow the rules. I take what I want when I want. You wouldn’t know about all that,” he said. “You’re not used to taking what you want. You’re happy for other women to come along and take it from you.”
“You don’t know me.”
“I don’t? Then prove me wrong.” He wanted to smile. This was going exactly how he’d hoped.
“How?” She glared at him.
Yes, this woman didn’t have a clue who he was. There was no fear in her eyes. Nothing. She saw him as just a man. Not a monster, and he really fucking liked that. The women of his world, some of them wanted to fuck him to just have that badge of honor.
“Come home with me and let me fuck your brains out.”
“You think you’re that good?”
“I know no woman has left my bed unsatisfied. Or you can head home and I’ll once again be right.”
“Bartender, give me a shot,” she said.
He watched her as she glared at him. She really was cute.
With her drink full, she downed it in one swallow and grabbed his hand. It took him every single ounce of restraint not to break her arm. No one touched him, not even the women. He held them down and fucked them, telling them what they would do, not the other way around. He had to keep his shit together or he’d mess up.
She pulled him out of the bar, and he sent a quick text to Raphael.
He didn’t get a response but he knew his friend would be busy and he had plenty of soldiers keeping an eye on him.
“Do you have a car?” she asked.
He snapped his fingers. The valet had already seen him exit and would bring his car. Within seconds, it was in front of him. He helped her into the car and walked to the driver’s side.
Sitting behind the wheel, he pulled away from the bar. She didn’t speak and he took her to the one place he was willing to take her. The apartment a few blocks from the club. It was where he took all of his fucks. Each one always given their marching orders in the morning.
After pulling into the private car park, he locked his car and walked toward the woman. She still hadn’t given him her name, but that was fine, he’d figure it out.
Entering the elevator, he placed a hand on her back. From their reflections in the doorway, he saw she was nervous. Licking her lips and fidgeting.
He smiled. Would she back out?
He wasn’t into rape or force. His cock was hard and he wanted inside her, but other than that, he wouldn’t make her.
They stepped onto his floor. There was only one other room and that was where Raphael came when he wanted some free time away from the Family.
Opening his apartment door, he didn’t allow her to get far. He closed the door by pressing her up against it, taking her wrists, and holding them above her head.
She released a gasp and he went in, kissing those plump lips that had been teasing him all night long
. There was no way he could deny his need.
She opened up and he plundered inside, kissing her back, feeling her body melt against him. This woman was scared and he got it, but that didn’t mean he was going to let her be frightened for long.
Pushing his pelvis against her, he let her feel his cock, how hard he was for her. She moaned, not fighting against him. Submitting. Keeping her wrists above her head, he slid one hand down, stroking over her body, touching her tits, and she gasped again. He moved between her legs and rubbed her pussy.
This was all fun but he wanted her naked.
Taking hold of her hand, he marched her through his apartment, going to the bedroom. The sheets were clean, bed made. He liked everything to be clean and tidy. Mess didn’t appeal. In fact, messes pissed him off.
Sinking his fingers into her hair, he tilted her head back, taking possession of her mouth once again. He broke from the kiss only long enough to take her shirt off.
She ran her hands up his body, and he had to step back. If she pushed his jacket off, she’d hear the clatter of the guns.
Removing his jacket, he made sure she didn’t see his weapons. Once he’d flicked open the catch of her jeans, he gave himself a few seconds to rid the rest of his weapons while she wriggled out of her jeans.
Her curvy body was now on display for him.
She stepped up to him, opening the buttons of his shirt and sliding her hands up his chest.
Cupping her pussy, he distracted her from the scars lining his body and the question of his ink.
He belonged to Giavanni. Had their mark on his flesh, declaring who he was.
She didn’t seem to care. This woman had no clue who he was, not even an inkling of the man she was about to have inside her body, and he loved it.
Chapter Two
Ellie couldn’t ever recall a time in her life when she’d done something crazy. This was the only time she’d acted without thinking and she couldn’t blame the man who was touching her.
