Chapter One
Max Cosgrove looked up at the knock on his office door. He wasn’t interested in visitors today, and he just wanted to get his work done so he could head home. Of course, he should have known it would be Dylan Crews, his best and only friend, as well as his business partner.
“I thought I’d come and see the thunder that has taken over my partner,” Dylan said.
“What the hell does that mean?”
“Ah, so the bad mood is real?”
Max removed his glasses, clasped his hands together, and looked at his friend. “What do you want?”
“To come and see what has our employees running scared. What gives?”
“I’m working, which is what you’re supposed to be doing.”
Dylan pressed his hands to his chest and smirked. “I have been working, and unlike you slacking off, I got all of my work done so I was ready for tonight.”
“I’m nearly done, but we have a couple of incompetent employees who decided to order out-of-date meats and cheeses for our restaurant. They accepted them, and you know what a pain in the ass our supplier can be.”
“He’s a fucking bastard and because they’ve given you the extra work, you’re pissed you’re not going to get home in time to see Lake, is that it? Or is it the very sexy nanny we’ve been eyeing since we employed her?” Dylan asked.
Six months ago, Max woke up in the middle of the night to the news that his half-sister had died in a fire, and he suddenly was in charge of his five-year-old niece. At forty-five years old, he didn’t know a single thing about children. His cluelessness lasted all of a day before he put an ad in the papers and Raine Granthum, the saving-grace nanny, arrived.
She’d been the only one to apply and after seeing her résumé, he’d hired her to live in with him, Dylan, and little Lake.
Six months.
Six long months of craving the nanny.
He’d always been a workaholic, but one look at Raine, and he’d wanted her, badly. Nights around the dining room table were cherished. Catching sight of her, he craved her. She was only supposed to be a short-term fix to help him learn how to deal with Lake, but he loved having her around.
“And why are you still here?” Max said. “I thought you wanted time alone with Raine, anyway.”
Dylan shrugged. “You know my thoughts.”
“You do realize we’re her boss.”
“You do realize I don’t give a fuck. I’m not going to force her to fuck me, nor are you, but you’ve seen how flustered she gets when we’re both near her. You can’t say that’s a little addictive?”
“She’s fifteen years younger than me.” He was very much aware of how Raine responded to both of them. If he didn’t know any better, he would have thought she stepped right out of their dreams.
“And she’s ten years younger than me, but you don’t see me complaining about it.” Dylan ran a finger across his lip. “She’s the one, Max. You know it. We’ve had women who have wanted to play before, but nothing like this.”
He couldn’t deny that. Women always wanted to play with them. The moment they found out he and Dylan liked to share, it was like an all-you-can-eat buffet and women wanted to gorge on them. It never lasted. The women who’d only wanted a piece of them often left them high and dry. The whole slam-bam, thank you for your dick, sir, and off they went.
Max was bored with that kind of treatment. He didn’t want a woman who was only interested in his dick.
Glancing down at his desk, he couldn’t help but think of Raine as he stared at the fabric mat she’d made for him. Their little nanny loved to sew and craft. She’d been able to draw Lake out of her shell, and his niece didn’t mind talking with him anymore. Lake loved to craft with Raine, and it was why his niece was already planning to decorate his house in garish Halloween decorations.
When she first moved in with him, she was skittish around him. Raine had talked with her and got Lake to admit she was a little afraid of him, which he hated. He tried to avoid seeming so intimidating, but it was hard.
“I’m not going to do anything that will take away Lake’s nanny. You know that.”
Dylan groaned. “What happened to my risk-taker best friend?”
“He grew up.”
“Nah, this is more than that. You’re afraid of pushing Raine away.”
Max dropped the pen he’d picked up, ready to get back to work. “Do you know the first thing about dealing with kids? Do you know what it takes to look after them? I sure don’t.”
“This isn’t about Raine being the nanny. You like her, don’t you? And I don’t mean a little either.”
Max didn’t respond. He knew it was pointless. Once Dylan had made up his mind, there was no getting away from it.
“Well, seeing as you’re here and being busy, I’m going to go and play with our nanny. Don’t be surprised if she hasn’t forgotten your name by the time you get home.”
He chuckled as Dylan disappeared out of the room.
Once he was alone, he sat back and looked over his desk.
He and Dylan had gone into business many years ago. They started with one nightclub and a restaurant, and twenty years later, they owned a whole flock of nightclubs, bars, and restaurants.
Ménage was their first nightclub and combined restaurant, and it took place in a building with multiple levels. People loved the experience, and this was where their main headquarters were. They felt this kept their feet firmly on the ground. Ménage had gone through many transitions and was a firm reminder to never allow ambition to exceed their abilities.
Were they putting too much faith in Raine?
He was worried Dylan was already too invested, but at the same time, so was he.

“Uncle Dylan!” Lake threw herself into his arms and Dylan laughed, picking up his favorite child in the whole wide world.
Ever since he and Max had come to a firm decision to find a woman to share, he’d put away the desire to father a child of his own. Finding a woman who wanted the two of them for more than a weekend fuck was, in fact, hard to do. More often than not, they just wanted a taste of two cocks.
He put those thoughts aside as he held a five-year-old. She wouldn’t understand how much he ached for a family of his own, which had occurred just recently, something he was surprised about. For the longest time, he didn’t want to have kids.
“If it isn’t the terror of my life. Ah, get her away.” He blew on her belly, and she burst into a fit of giggles.
As if on cue, Raine stepped out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel. It was then he noticed Lake was wearing an apron.
“You’ve been messing up Max’s kitchen?” he asked.
“With cookies. Chocolate chip cookies,” Lake said. “He will love them.”
“Where is Max?” Raine asked. “He sent me a text to say he was on his way home.”
“When?”
Raine reached into her pocket and pulled out her cell phone. “Fifteen minutes ago.”
He chuckled. “I have no idea because when I left him, he was only interested in working. That man is a stick in the mud.”
Lake chuckled. He loved that sound.
A buzzer went, and she wriggled in his arms, wanting down, to which he had no choice but to let her go. He turned toward Raine, but the woman was already walking away, following behind Lake.
Dylan couldn’t help but admire her full ass. Raine was all woman and all curves. She was temptation wrapped up in a package. It helped that she was sweet, kind, and so damn nice.
In the past six months, he’d learned she wasn’t putting on any show. This was just who she was. He was surprised because if he had to spend a great deal of time with kids, he would’ve gone crazy. Some people were just better prepared for handling children than he was.
Lake stepped up onto the stool as Raine went straight to the oven, complete with an oven glove, and the scents were amazing. His mouth watered as Raine pulled out not one, but two trays of cookies.
Lake clapped her hands and leaned over, sniffing.
“Ah, be careful, sweetheart. We don’t want to rush and risk burning ourselves, do we?”
“Nope.”
“Go and wash up. I’ll make you a hot chocolate.”
“Yay.” Lake was off the stool and rushing out of the kitchen.
Raine chuckled.
“A hot chocolate before dinner?” Dylan asked. “You’re spoiling her.”
“Have you not checked the time? I couldn’t allow the poor girl to starve.”
Dylan glanced around the room and saw it was close to eight in the evening. “Shit,” he said.
“I’ve noticed time gets away from both of you. I fed Lake and kept her entertained until you arrived.”
His stomach chose that moment to growl.
Raine smiled. “And I have a hot pot in the oven for you and Max.”
“I can’t believe I missed dinner again.” He had tried to get home but work at the clubs just sucked up all of his day.
Annoyed, he removed his jacket, draped it on the back of a chair, and headed to the fridge. After pulling out a bottle of red wine, he opened it up and poured himself a generous glass. There was no reason to offer any to Raine. She never drank. Never. He’d offered her plenty of times.
He also happened to notice she’d pulled two mugs out of the cupboard and was in the process of preparing herself some hot chocolate.
With Max on his way home, his friend would be just as pissed as he was.
“You’re doing good with Lake.”
“She’s a great kid. A little afraid at times. She’s worried that you and Max will be hurt in a fire, but I try to talk to her about it. I did tell Max of her concerns.”
He wasn’t aware of that. “I hate that she experienced that.”
Lake had been on a sleepover with a friend when the fire had happened.
“Do you think she needs to talk to someone?” Dylan asked.
“I honestly don’t know. She’s handling everything well. She misses her mom, and she doesn’t know Max all that well. She’s worried she’s not wanted.” Raine shrugged.
“Lake is wanted.”
“I do tell her.” She nibbled on her lip, clearly wanting to say something more.
“What is it?” Dylan asked.
“It’s … not my business.”
“Raine, we trust you. You’ve been a goddess with Lake.”
“I’m just doing my job, and Lake is such a good girl. So sweet and kind. I think she’s … her mother was a stay-at-home, mom, so she’s not used to being around people who work so much.”
Dylan didn’t know the whole of Max’s sister’s life, but he did know the woman rarely worked, if at all. Lake’s father had also been killed in the fire, but again, they could only figure out he was in and out of Lake’s life.
“Then maybe it’s time we stay at home more,” Max said, entering the kitchen.
“Evening, Max,” Raine said.
Her face went a beautiful shade of red and all Max had done was enter the kitchen.
Dylan winked at her, and of course, she went even redder and he loved that.
“Well, well, well, I take it you got work done and dusted,” Dylan said.
“You wouldn’t believe how fast I work and get what I want when there’s temptation to come home to. Those cookies smell great.”
Raine was already putting them on a baking tray. “Lake would like to give you a cookie. If that is okay?” she asked.
“Anything for you, darling,” Max said.
****
Raine considered herself to be a professional.
She’d been a nanny for seven years, and she loved kids so much. This was the first live-in role she had taken.
At first, she’d been a little uncomfortable, but Dylan and Max had done everything within their power to help her feel at home. She just wished she didn’t have these feelings while she was around them. They were so distracting. She had never been attracted to anyone she was employed by. The fathers were always off-limits, and she never wanted to cross any kind of line.
Max and Dylan were different.
She couldn’t keep them out of her thoughts, or more importantly, her sexual desires. This was alarming because she had never experienced this level of attraction before.
At thirty years old, she was no virgin. She’d had one serious relationship that had ended in disaster when she caught him cheating with her then best friend. They’d been sleeping together for years. All that time she thought they were in a strong happy place, he’d been lying to her.
Raine had kicked his ass out of the apartment, put it up for sale, and terminated her friendship all within a matter of days. She’d moved, and it was like someone was looking down on her because she happened to be sitting in a diner, in a new city, looking for work, and saw this ad.
The last six months had made her realize she had fallen out of love with her boyfriend and had only been with him because it had made life easier. They hadn’t been together for a long time, certainly not physically. For the most part, they lived separate lives.
“Uncle Max!” Lake came running into the kitchen and straight into Max’s arms.
Raine loved to see Lake like this.
She adored the little girl, and Lake was so much fun to be around. She had started school that August and was, so far, settling in well, as far as he knew.
Max had picked the school, and from what Raine remembered, had done extensive research to make sure he picked the right place.
At Lake’s insistence, Max carried her through to the dining room. Raine put the hot chocolates and cookies into the tray, then followed them into the room.
Lake wouldn’t move from Max’s lap, and Raine was sure to serve them enough hot chocolate to dip. She was about to leave them alone, but Dylan grabbed her hand, stopping her. It was moments like these that had her heart racing.
Dylan and Max tried to draw her in, to involve her with their lives, and she loved that. The only problem was that it was so easy for her to forget this was a job. Lake was her responsibility. They paid her to take care of Lake.
Keeping things professional between them was hard.
Both men had the ability to make her blush, to awaken her body, and to make her yearn for what she wasn’t allowed. She had to keep boundaries.
After their cookies, Raine cleaned away the dishes and checked on the hot pot she had in the oven. It was cooked to perfection.
She set the table, and Dylan was first downstairs. He put his hands on her waist as she tried to reach the wine glass for Max.
“I’ve got it.” He was so close.
The scent of him surrounded her. Why did she have to react to his smell or his presence? Her nipples tightened and her pussy went slick.
Jerking back, she gasped. He was so close that as she tried to move, her ass pressed against his pelvis and she became aw
are of two things. One, he had a very big cock, and two, he was aroused.
His arm banded around her waist, keeping her in place, and she gasped again.
“Whoa, be careful, Raine.” His lips were against her ear, and she couldn’t help but close her eyes.
Teeth sinking against her lip, she held back a moan that threatened to escape, but it was next to impossible.
Dylan slid his palm across her stomach, and there was something in the action that made her melt. She didn’t know what he did, or how he did it.
“Raine?”
“I … er … I have to go,” she said.
He didn’t release her.
This was embarrassing.
He leaned in close so his lips were right next to her ear. “I know you can feel me, Raine.”
“You’re my boss.”
“I’m not telling you as your boss. I’m telling you as a man.”
Time seemed to stand still.
Dylan ran his hands up her body, resting them just beneath her breasts. The sane part of her brain wasn’t working. The part of her brain that wanted to make a whole bunch of bad decisions was in complete control, and she sank her teeth into her lip, trying to do anything to make herself work properly.
Nothing worked.
“Tell me to stop,” he said.
She didn’t want to. Why would she want him to stop? She’d been dreaming of his touch for so long, and he was so close, the temptation was too hard to deny.
You’re their nanny.
This is wrong.
You shouldn’t be doing this.
But it feels so good.
She had stopped feeling desirable a long time ago. Dylan’s arousal, like the two men, had awakened a need within her. A need that she had kept hidden for so long even with her ex-boyfriend. He’d never known the desires she craved. He had never been able to handle her level of need.
His lips brushed across her neck, and Raine whimpered.
“I know you want me, Raine. I know you need me.”
“Please,” she said.
