Preacher drank down the shot, letting the burn of the whiskey soothe his soul. It felt so fucking good. He let out a whoop as Bear handed him another.

  “Are you trying to get me drunk?”

  “I hate to break this to you, but you’re the father of an eighteen-year-old kid now. That makes you so freaking old, and I’m not going to let you miss a moment of it.”

  “So getting me a drink is all part of your master plan?”

  “It’s all part of a plan. I don’t think it’s a master one. However, we do have a little surprise for you later, but all in good time.”

  Preacher downed another shot. He didn’t see a reason not to get drunk. Everyone was in the club, so he had no reason to worry about being called out. His kid had made it to eighteen, and there had been moments throughout the years when he’d wanted to fucking murder him.

  All in all, a job well done.

  He glanced across the parking lot to see his son with a different woman wrapped around him.

  “Didn’t Robin come to the party?”

  “Yeah, she’s probably in her room. I take it you heard about mine and Rebecca’s argument?” Bear asked.

  “I heard it.” The entire clubhouse had heard it. He was done with the shot glass and finally grabbed the bottle of whiskey.

  “Yeah, well, since then, I haven’t seen her.”

  “I saw her,” Kid said, speaking up. “She was inside. Dancing with one of the blondes. I can’t remember her name. She’s the freaky one.” Kid snapped his fingers. “Nope. Don’t know her name.”

  “They’re all fucking freaky,” Bear said. “I see how far I can make them go, you know. Kind of like a little test. Can I stick it hole A, B, C, or D?”

  “What’s D?” Kid asked.

  “Right between the tits. You fuck their tits and come all over the neck and face. Some women totally dig it, and of course some like to lick up the mess afterward.”

  With the whiskey bottle empty, Preacher made his way inside toward the bar. He snapped open a beer, and took another drink. There was no other reason for him to not get completely wasted.

  When was the last time he’d gotten drunk and not given a fuck to the consequences? There was only one other time he could think of, so maybe it was time to let off the drink. Bishop had been the result of his last drunken night.

  “Hi, Preacher.”

  He turned to see a happy, smiling Milly.

  “What do you want?”

  “I wanted to have a drink with you, you know, to celebrate your freedom.”

  “My freedom?”

  “Your son is now old enough. Legally an adult, and he can do what he wants, when he wants.”

  “He still lives in my house, and he will abide by my fucking rules.”

  “I totally agree. One hundred percent. Let’s drink to it. To rules and not breaking them.”

  He stared at Milly, not liking her sudden change of attitude. She kept on smiling though.

  “What has made you happy?”

  “Can’t a girl be happy?”

  “I’ve seen you, Milly. I know you calculate shit. What’s going on?”

  “Nothing is going on. Seriously, I just wanted to have a drink with you. Have some fun. I know you’re wound up so tight about everything, and well, it’s time for you to relax. You know, to not stress so much. We’ve all been given the heads-up to lay low, and I don’t see why you can’t enjoy it as well.” She winked at him, swallowing down her drink.

  He didn’t see a reason to argue with her.

  Swigging more whiskey, he alternated between beer and whiskey. Milly stayed with him for the next couple of hours, and he actually talked to her.

  She listened as he talked about Bishop. He knew she had a thing for Bishop, or at least, her greedy little paws trapped within him.

  “You do know Robin is his,” he said.

  The smile on her face dropped. “Excuse me.”

  The room was starting to spin a little. The alcohol was getting to him. He could handle his liquor, but it had been a long time he’d drunk so much.

  “Robin belongs to Bishop. It’s why you’ll always be the free pussy around here. They’ve been together since birth, and well, they have their differences but everyone knows those two will end up together. You need to stop trying so hard.” He finished his drink. “I need to go and lie down. Good talking to you, Milly. No hard feelings.”

  Taking the whiskey bottle with him, he signaled to Bear he was heading up, and to keep an eye on the party.

  He didn’t want any cops knocking at his door. In the morning he’d get a feel for the new cop in town, but until then, he was going to get some sleep.

  Several couples were making out as he headed toward his room.

  Closing the door, he flicked the lock into place, put down his whiskey, and removed his leather cut.

  He collapsed against his dresser. His vision was a little blurry, but he was very much aware.

  Glancing toward his bed, he stopped. A nice, naked back and full, plump ass was there. Bear’s words from earlier came back to him. It’s all part of a plan. I don’t think it’s a master one. However, we do have a little surprise for you later, but all in good time.”

  So, this was his gift.

  Robin closed the door, trying not to make a sound. She couldn’t believe what had just happened or that she had made it out of there alive. It seemed so wrong to be able to leave so easily. How could it have been possible?

  The club was so quiet, but it was the early part of the morning and so no one was really paying any attention to her. Without looking back, because she really didn’t want to have to deal with that confrontation, she walked down the stairs, leading toward the main clubhouse. Each step she took only served to increase her pain more. Tears filled her eyes, and she still felt sick.

  Why had Milly done that to her? She’d never hurt the other woman.

  She didn’t understand it and certainly didn’t want to even think about it. This was all so wrong. It was too much.

  She had just lost her virginity today, and she’d been saving it. She thought about Bishop and knew she hadn’t been saving it for him, because … he didn’t cherish it. Who had she been saving it for? This was supposed to be her decision, and she hated that it had been taken out of her hands.

  With tears running down her face, she burst out of the main clubhouse, not caring who saw her. Just as she got outside, she came to a stop when she saw the very woman who’d done this to her.

  Milly was smoking a cigarette and looking really smug about it as well. “Well, well, well,
don’t you look all sexy and non-virginal.”

  “You drugged me.”

  “That I did.” Milly threw her cigarette to the ground.

  “Why? I’ve done nothing to you.”

  “People look at you, the men look at you as if you’re some kind of saint, and we both know that’s not the case. Not even close. You’re nothing. You’re a piece of shit. You’ve got a cunt, an ass, a mouth, and you’re exactly like me, and I’m tired of being treated like crap because people think they’re better than me. You’re not, and what better way than to have Preacher have a taste of a little cherry pie.”

  “You’re sick.”

  “Oh, am I? I dare you to go in there and tell your dad you slept with Preacher.”

  “You drugged me.”

  “I know, but the glorious thing about what I gave you, there’s no trace of it. It would be your word against mine, and we all saw you dancing sexily last night to gain his attention.”

  “He wasn’t even there.” She shouldn’t believe this woman. But what if what she was saying was right? What if they believed Milly and not her? She didn’t know how she could go about this. It was all too much. She knew her mother would love any excuse for her father to hate her, or to doubt her.

  Could this be it?

  She didn’t want to even think about it.

  “Really? How can you be so sure? If you want to test me, do so. I don’t give a fuck. I can handle whatever is thrown at me. The real question, Robin, is can you?”

  “I hate you,” she said. She had never said anything like that to anyone before in her life, and saying those words now, they made her feel sick.

  “Aw, you’re still so very much a child. At least now you’re a child that actually wanted sex.”

  Milly cupped her face, but Robin pulled back.

  “You better be on your way, little girl. Don’t want anyone to suspect what is going on, do you?”

  Without waiting for Milly to mock her anymore, Robin ran out of the clubhouse. She had to get away. She kept on running until she ran out of breath and walked the entire distance home.

  She couldn’t believe she was walking home.

  Anything could happen to her. After three hours and maybe even more of walking, she arrived home to an empty house, which didn’t surprise her. Her parents were probably still back at the clubhouse enjoying the party, where she should have been enjoying it.

  She walked straight into the bathroom and stared at her reflection.

  Peeling her dress off, she felt sick to her stomach, and she hated herself so much. This was all too much for her to deal with, and as she stared at her reflection, she wanted to puke.

  She hated what had become of her.

  It was all just a little too much for her to deal with. Climbing beneath the spray of the hot shower, she tilted her head back, closed her eyes, and tried to think of anything that would be a lot happier than she was now. Anything at all that would give her comfort and solace against the pain.

  Preacher hadn’t been gentle last night, but he hadn’t known it was her. She was sure of it.

  Was it rape?

  Milly had raped her, but Preacher hadn’t known, had he?

  Pressing her hands against her face, she sobbed.

  This was all too much.

  “You’ve got to get it together, Robin. You can’t let her win. This doesn’t have to define you. You can win. You don’t have to wait around crying about anything. You’re going to be fine. You will be fine.” She took a deep breath, trying to calm her rioting emotions.

  One deep breath in.

  One deep breath out.

  She could handle this.

  There was no holding back.

  Not anymore.

  She wouldn’t let Milly win. No one had to know what was going on. She was strong enough to face this alone without anyone finding out the truth.

  With that in mind, she finished getting changed, washing every single part of her body, and knowing she had to be strong in order to keep this secret. No one could ever know the truth.

  This would be her secret.

  Even if Preacher never knew it was her, she wouldn’t allow anyone to find out the truth.

  Taking another deep breath, she felt herself starting to calm.

  Milly wouldn’t win this.

  What the hell should she do with this information? Joanne watched as Milly made her way back into the clubhouse.

  Robin had already run away.

  Joanne looked down at her hands, which were shaking, and then up toward the gate.

  Poor Robin.

  The girl had been born into the club, and she’d been protected from a lot of the reality of the club and the women.

  Bear made sure the women kept a wide berth from his daughter, but it hadn’t protected her from Milly, or from what had happened.

  She felt sick.

  Preacher had slept with that girl, and he didn’t even realize it.

  Would he even believe her?

  She was just another club pussy. No one cared about what she had to say so long as she spread her legs and kept her mouth shut.

  Feeling sick by all this knowledge, she made her way inside.

  Milly was already surrounded by a couple of the men, and looked really happy about it as well.

  Could this really be happening to her?

  She didn’t know what to do.

  Taking a deep breath, Joanne tried to calm herself, but it was no good. It wasn’t working, and all she wanted to do was throw up.

  She’d wait and see what Preacher had to say first. If he was even looking for the girl who was in his bed, she’d help Robin out. If not, she would stay silent. There were worse things that could happen to a girl, and well, Robin had lost her virginity to Preacher. A lot of women would kill to be in his bed, so she didn’t see the problem. It would all turn out fine in the end.

  Chapter Six

  “You’re too busy? What do you mean you’re too busy?”

  Preacher finished adding the cheese to the cheese melts he was making for him and his son and listening to the conversation on the phone.

  It had been three weeks since his son turned eighteen.

  Wow, he had an eighteen-year-old son and always had a mixed feeling between wanting to punch him and feeling proud of him.

  “Come on, Robin. What the fuck is the problem?” Another pause. “You want me to spell it out to you? You go missing on my birthday and since then I can’t get you to spend any time with me. Dad’s making grilled cheese sandwiches. Stop being a bitch.”

  Bishop looked down at his phone. “She hung up on me.”

  “What’s going on with all of that, or is that way too much teenage drama for me to deal with?”

  He already had a little cop problem of his own, and even though he had no interest in finding out what was going on with his son, he really, really didn’t want to talk about it.

  “I don’t know. I mean, she’s acting all weird. She won’t come by the clubhouse anymore. She doesn’t come here anymore. I honestly don’t get it.” Bishop shrugged. “I’ve done nothing to upset her.”

  “What about all the women you’ve slept with?”

  “She knew about them a lot longer than I’ve been sleeping with them. I just don’t get it.”

  “Maybe there’s nothing to get?” Preacher asked. “She’s a girl. It’s that time of the month.”

  “For three weeks?”

  “Women are amazing and mysterious things.” He thought about the woman his men had given him.

  He couldn’t remember the full details, but he would have liked to have at least known her name. Especially when he woke up, he’d found blood on the sheet. Clearly the woman had left his bed completely embarrassed to have started her period while being in bed with him.

  He wasn’t completely oblivious to a woman’s needs nor was he too sensitive. He remembered when Bear came to the club a couple of years ago after Robin got her first period. The gu
y looked like he was going to have a stroke, and it was all because he’d been at the store staring at tampons and pads and didn’t have the first clue which one to pick.

  Maybe it was because he didn’t have a daughter, but it really didn’t bother him. Women had periods, and it was just one of those things they had to deal with and men had to accept that they weren’t getting any fun time.

  “Amazing, yes, but I don’t think they’re mysterious.”

  The sandwiches were finished, and he put them on a plate, sliding them over to Bishop as he started to assemble another for himself.

  “I just don’t see what the problem is,” he said. “She’s been acting so weird. She won’t hang out with me anymore, and I know she knows about the women because Robin knows me. It’s like she’s trying to hide. She won’t even walk with me between classes, and now she spends a lot of time at the library. I don’t know. It’s like she is a different person.”

  “I can’t help you, buddy. She is your best friend. You know what you’ve got to do. I’ve not got a clue.”

  “Don’t you have any advice? Do you think I did something wrong?”

  “I honestly don’t know. Do you feel you did something wrong?”

  “Not a clue. I honestly don’t know what I could have done.” Bishop shook his head. “You know what, I’m not going to think about it. If she doesn’t want to talk about it, we won’t talk about it. It doesn’t matter, does it? One way or another, she’ll come around, or I go to her and grovel for forgiveness.”

  “Is that a regular thing for you, groveling for forgiveness?”

  Bishop scrunched up his nose. “Not really. She doesn’t usually care what I do or who I do it with.” He shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe she’s stressed about all of this school stuff. I don’t know why. I’d take care of all of her needs.”

  “What if what she needs is not the same as what you need?”

  Bishop laughed. “Do you realize we’re having a conversation about girls right now? We’re not arguing.”

  Preacher snorted. “How long do we think that is going to last?”

  “A couple of minutes at most. You’ll say something I hate, and I’ll snap. We’ll shout, and I’ll walk away.”

  “You’ve predicted the future.” Preacher was growing bored with the conversation. There was no reason to continue it. With his grilled cheese sandwich finished, he left the kitchen.
